Shitty shitty bang bang

I am glad to be the one telling you this story so you didn't have to get it from a secondary source. Like an obituary or on CNN.

Last week I sat down to make a payment on my car when I noticed a truly wonderous thing. There, before my eyes and God, the number next to "Payments Remaining" dropped from 10 to 9. Single digit! I allowed myself a brief moment to imagine a world without car payments...a world I would soon live in.

Unfortunately at that very moment the high tech mind control devices that are constantly circling the globe and wreaking all kinds of havoc picked up on this thought and sent an emergency message to the Ford Motor Company telling them that they currently had a client who was very close to, gasp, paying off one of their cars! Spies at Ford sprang into action and immediately dispensed a rogue vehicle in the guise of a 1989 Red Ford Bronco, which has long been designated as the "Devil's Car" to find and destroy me.

Which it did. Here's what it looks like when a Ford Focus going thirty miles an hour gets hit by a Ford Bronco going seventy miles an hour (in a 30mph zone no less!):

Anyone have any ideas on what kind of new car I should buy?

My husband's seat was actually broken off the treads and we were pushed into oncoming traffic. I managed to stop before I hit anyone else and in the meantime the Bronco was smashing into another car (obviously closing in on their last payments as well) before crashing full force into the side of the police station, wheels a-spinnin', foot on the gas. I was so disorientated that I was walking around asking everyone there, "Did I hit you? Did I hit you?"

It was a scene.

It was not immediately clear what was wrong with the psychotic woman that hit us, eyewitness accounts told me that she was either asleep or stoned, I shall find out today when I pick up the police report but the fact that she hit two cars and a building and climbed out of her car completely unfazed tells me that she was probably up to no good. She also had a child of about seven or eight in the car with her.

Tess was not in the car with us, which is really fortunate, considering the amount of broken glass that ended up in the car seat. I had to trash the car seat along with my car which is, of course, totalled and I got a new one over the weekend that my insurance company will cover. They won't cover my carriage and stroller which were in the trunk because those are not items that technically go in a trunk. As Jill eloquently put it, "A fucking Ford Bronco wasn't supposed to go in your trunk either but it did!"

Brandon and I were not hurt although we are very, very sore and I am going to see the doctor tonight to get checked out because my back is still a little spastic. The claims guy from the insurance company said that had we been stopped when she hit us we probably would have been killed on impact.

So far my 2008 is fucking fabulous, how's yours?

Holy shit! Thank god you're okay! Wow!! I'm speechless! So, you're getting a new car?? I would say get an SUV or something with more room :o) I hope your back gets better! That just sucks! I hope that woman that hit you pays for what she did! Dumb ass!

This was by far, the STRANGEST accident I've ever seen. How she hit you, another car and a building is BEYOND me.

Loco I tell you.....

That totally sucks. It also sucks because it looks like you have a really cute car seat. Isn't the insurance company suppose to replace all things that are broken in your car? I would press it with the other person's insurance company.

I am really glad Tess wasn't with you. That would have been a total nightmare. No only the risk of her getting hurt but having to deal with a toddler after an accident would freak me out.

THEN that being said.
Mazda 3's or 6's are really nice. You can also get them in a hatchback which gives you more room. We have a car that is very similar to a Subaru WRX, but i find that too small and the gas mileage sucks. Camry's are really nice. There is also the Pontiac that is like the focus, but cheaper.

Wow! That sucks! I am so glad Tess was not in the car! I have to say - your car held up pretty good for an SUV traveling 70 mph to have hit it! Good luck on finding a new car. I would probably go with a bigger car, but gas milage would also have to play into the choice. Maybe a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry? Or...You could drive in style like me, in a Mama Mobile Mini van!

Oh that sucks! But at least you're both OK and your beautiful little girl wasn't in the car. But still, what a bitch.

Damn the luck. Glad you are okay, but if I were you I'd start worrying. Karma seems intent to jab something up your rear.

First the colonoscopy and now this.

OHMYGOD!!! Thank God you and Brandon are ok and that Tess wasn't in the car with you!!!

We have 2 payments left on our car, and I've wrecked it twice in less than a month! somehow..these car companies know when you've almost paid your car off and they send deer and ice your way, just to screw with you!

glad you're ok, and get that back checked.

Hi. I sidled on over from Tee's blog and randomly read this entry. I have to tell you I am nauseous, absolutely nauseous, especially seeing that carseat in the back. Glad you are all ok.

Oh my God! That really sucks. You didn't even get to drive a paid off car for awhile. I am so glad that Tess wasn't in the car. Man - some people are idiots. As my husband says to me when I leave, "Watch out for dumb asses."

Oh.my.gosh! ... I'm so happy that everyone is alright. WOW. I can't believe how messed up it got - and only a few payments left... Unbelievable.

I HATE car accidents. They don't just ruin your day - they ruin like an entire month b/c you have to get all the insurance and crap sorted out :p I'm sorry!
